New Small Group Opportunities

DeWitt Group

This is a *mixed group that meets at Daniel and Mackenzie DeWitt's apartment at 2305 Jefferson Square Court, Decatur, GA 30030 every Monday night at 6:30.

Slye Group:

This is a *mixed group that meets at the Veritas worship space every Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. except for the last Tuesday night of the month.

Women's Group

This is a women's group that meets at the Slagle house at 590 N. Superior Ave. Decatur, GA 30033 every Tuesday at 7 p.m. except for the last Tuesday of the month.

Boerckel Group

This is a married couples group that meets every Tuesday except for the last Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Boerckel's apartment.

Shirley Group

This is a married couples group that meets every Wednesday at 7 p.m. except the last Wednesday of the month at the Shirley's apt. at 604 Kirk Rd. Apt. 11 Decatur, GA 30030. The first meeting will be Sept. 10.

Piper Circle Group

This is a mixed group that meets every Thursday at 7 p.m. except the last Thursday of the month at the Balukonis house at 1708 Piper Cr. Atlanta, GA 30316.

Veritas Statement on Community

Author Brennan Manning wrote: "The early church was built on small groups of people who came together to support one another in a whole new way of life. These primitive communities were visible evidence of an alternative to the status quo of their culture. Today we need small bands of people who take the gospel at face value, who realize what God is doing in our time, and who are living proof of being in the world but not of the world. These communities...should be small enough for intimacy, kindred enough for accceptance, and gentle enough for criticism. Gathered in the name of Jesus, the community empowers us to incarnate in our lives what we believe in our hearts and proclaim with our lips."

At Veritas Church, we hold Community as one of our core values. God exists in eternal community and has designed us to enjoy and live life in community with others. In a world that pushes us toward isolation, we realize one of our greatest needs is community. We need a place where we can know and be known, love and be loved, and serve and be served.

We have Small Groups that meet at various times and places around Decatur and Atlanta. These groups (of anywhere from 8-12 people) meet throughout the week and are striving to experience biblical community, study and discuss the Bible, pray for each other, and build authentic friendships. We see our groups as a place where you can connect relationally with others in the church, sharing life together to grow in a relationship with Christ. Our groups are a primary way for you to connect at Veritas Church. We believe one of our church's greatest strengths is in connecting not just on Sunday evenings, but throughout the week.

We have entrance ramps and exit ramps for our connection groups. In other words, there is a time to begin and end. Currently all of our connection groups run on a semester calendar. This is purposely done so people know what they are committing to and do not feel as though they are signing their life away to the group.
